We've had our wood burning stove completely installed now. It's fantastic. The flame picture on it is magnificent! For the last two nights we haven't had the telly on at all. We've just been watching the flames while curled up on the settee. Mind you, it chews through wood quite quickly!

Just wanted to say, if anybody is considering getting one then I would recommend it. Smile

You're right Sophie! Our main reception room was the coldest in the house as it was in the north wing of the building. It's now the warmest and the heat spreads throughout the house. We've even turned the central heating right down. However, the main reason we went for it was just to make the lounge look more cosy! We put in a limestone mantel with slate hearth. It's great to turn the lights off and just sit there watching the fire! I bet you're all thinking " What a weirdo "! LOL

You make it sound like you live in a prison Stewart, but I know you don't. You have a lovely house, the biggest in your road! LOL Mind you, your garden's not as big as mine! Laugh

That cosy look is not weird Stewart - I love it. We have been to Denmark a few times as Bro in Law is Danish. They have the log burning stoves everywhere and don't use electric light at night but loads of candles instead. It seemed so cosy and peaceful in their house I didn't want to leave.

Well how lovely Stewart you bringing me memories of childhood

and so much ncier than just staring at a tv!
we grew up with a fire in lounge so remember those cold winter days,we had no central heating only back boiler.
wasnt log burner but so lovely.
a man and lorry used to appear every 2 weeks with big bag coal light on his back and fill up the coal bunker.
Remember the rush to window to watch him arrive.
we so spent many times having good old laugh at
only fools horses, aint half hot mum, step toe and son, allo allo etc infront of that lovely fire.

blissful.
enjoy.

Fancy that......my stove is from Denmark! It's a Morso. We got that one because of the flame picture and because they give a 10 year guarantee!

My house isn't that big. It's only 5 bedroom but it's sort of wide that's why I said North wing. ( But I do have 3 garages! LOL )

Carol came down one weekend and I didn't charge her, neither did she offer me anything!!

If anybody's around Surrey you're welcome to pop in as long as you wipe your feet and don't dribble on the toilet seat when you use the loo!
